About brianwoodruff2015

I am more of a sailor than a skilled boatbuilder I wanted to build a boat and sail it to the Western Isles in Scotland from my home town of Preston Lancashire what could possibly go wrong.

I’ve just got back from sailing to Lanzarote from Preston with just one stop at Cork Southern Ireland. I can now concentrate on getting Talon ready to launch next March.

Here is my bid for a part in the next Pirates filmDSCF4157

I have finally finished all the jobs that need doing before I can finish the painting. These were the spacers for the chainplates and the board on the floor where I am fitting the depth sounder and all the supports for the seats and berths etc.

Starting again

I haven’t posted for a while I have been involved in some sailing of other people’s boat’s this season I needed to do some actual sailing instead of boat building. During the Christmas holidays I am going to finish the bunks and get the boat ready for launching.

Finally got the paint on under the bunk area so I can now make the bed and fix it in place however rain has again stopped play . A Frenchman was telling me that in Nice where he lives they have 15 days of rain a year I told him we have 15 months of it a year he laughed but I wasn’t joking.

Season is starting.

Talon fell over in the wind last night which sounds worse than it is there was an inflatable for her to fall on to so there is no damage. I’ll build some proper supports before I put her back up.

This year is going to be spent refitting the ballast now I know where it has to go and fitting out so I can sleep aboard so I decided not to launch again this year but to concentrate on making the boat usable inside.

As soon as the weather gets more reliable I’ll remove the tarp and get started.

In other ┬ánews the small boat I made as practice for building Talon is getting a rub down and a layer of epoxy and matting I want to use the boat this year on the river Ribble which is only about a mile from my house I ‘m hoping to get on the water in the nest couple of weeks. I’ll post a video of the outing.
